Ian Wright Criticizes World Cup Final Decision Over Spain Victory

Argentina’s bid to win back-to-back World Cups ended in defeat after the side finished with ten men and could not overturn the result in extra time.

The pitch at MetLife Stadium drew sharp criticism during the final, with several former players questioning its condition.

Arsenal legend and former England striker Ian Wright described the surface as ridiculous for a World Cup final, noting it looked bobbly and difficult to play on.

He urged for the pitch to be watered at half-time, arguing the players should not have been on such a poor surface.

Spain secured their second World Cup title with a win in extra time, sparking praise from analysts.

Former England striker Chris Sutton said the best team of the tournament had won, calling Spain slick, composed, and thoroughly deserving of the trophy.

He highlighted the maturity of young defender Cubarsi, the midfield influence of Rodri, and the work rate of Lamine Yamal in the final.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson pointed to Spain conceding only one goal across the tournament as evidence of their quality and organization.

He said the squad is experienced at winning tournaments and was clearly the stronger side on the day.
