PORSCHE PHILIPPINES President and CEO Roberto Coyiuto III recalled his father’s goal with introducing the auto brand to the country 30 years ago. Porsche Philippines Principal and Founder Robert Coyiuto, Jr. had a “simple but meaningful vision to bring one of the world’s most iconic sports car brands closer to Filipino enthusiasts,” Mr. Coyiuto III said. “Over the past three decades, Porsche Philippines has continually evolved from our beginnings in 1996.”
This evolution involved not only the expansion of its model lineup — making more Porsches available to adoring and discriminating car buyers here — but “embracing the future through the Taycan and our dedicated high-voltage center,” continued the executive.
As Porsche Philippines, as represented by Autoextreme Performance, Inc., marked three decades of operations last week, a couple of impressive models were also unveiled: the one-of-one Porsche Philippines 30thAnniversary 911 Targa 4 GTS created in collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur (the brand’s in-house customization division housed in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen), and the most powerful series-production 911 in the 911 Turbo S.
Inspired by the “vibrant colors of a Philippine sunrise,” the special 911 Targa 4 GTS bears a bespoke pastel orange exterior hue, complemented by stitching of the same hue to go along with “exclusive leather appointments” inside. This, according to Porsche Philippines in a release, “symbolizes both Porsche Philippines’ remarkable journey over the past three decades and the exciting road ahead.” It carries other handcrafted Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur details, and Porsche’s newest T-Hybrid technology, supplemented by a new 3.6-liter boxer engine.
Meanwhile, the 911 Turbo S is the most powerful series-production 911 ever, with 711hp and 800Nm on tap from its new T-Hybrid powertrain. It is complemented by developments in chassis technology, aerodynamics, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), and a titanium sports exhaust system, while retaining its everyday usability.
“Before we speak about anniversaries, milestones, or even cars, I would like to begin with a simple phrase that has defined Porsche for generations: There is no substitute. More than a slogan, it is a reflection of what makes Porsche unique and why our sports cars continue to inspire people around the world,” said Porsche Asia-Pacific Regional Director Dr. Henrik Dreier, who flew into town from Germany for the event. “Porsche enters one of the most exciting periods in its history… from long-established Porsche communities to new generations discovering the world for the first time. The region continues to demonstrate both passion for our heritage and excitement for our future. Among these markets, the Philippines holds a very special place; for me, especially because I’ve known them personally for a long time. It’s great to see how far Porsche Philippines has gone. For 30 years, Porsche Philippines has represented the brand with passion, dedication, and commitment to the customers. It has cultivated a vibrant community of enthusiasts and owners by continuously raising the standards of the Porsche ownership experience in this market.”
Dr. Dreier also paid tribute to the Porsche Training and Recruitment Center Asia, established in Manila by Robert Coyiuto, Jr. in 2008 and in partnership with Porsche AG and Don Bosco Technical Institute. “It would later become the foundation for Porsche after-sales vocational education or pave a program that continues to create opportunities for young talents around the world. That is a legacy of the Philippines you can truly be proud of,” he declared.
To underscore a trajectory of further growth in the country, Roberto Coyiuto III mentioned the new Porsche Center Manila, set to open next year. The facility, he added, “is a testament to our commitment to delivering an even more exceptional Porsche experience for generations to come.” —Kap Maceda Aguila
