Toronto police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who allegedly pulled a knife on a grocery store employee after a theft in Scarborough.
Officers responded to a theft near Kennedy Road and Progress Avenue just after it occurred around 7:40 p.m. on June 23.
Investigators say a male suspect entered a grocery store and filled a shopping cart with items from the freezer aisle. He then allegedly concealed the products in a backpack and left without paying.

A loss prevention officer confronted the suspect outside the store and attempted to restrain him. The suspect allegedly assaulted the employee, brandished a knife, and threatened to kill him before fleeing.
Police have released images of the suspect in the hope that witnesses will recognize him.
The suspect is described as approximately 40 years old, with a medium build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, camouflage pants, white shoes, a black and white bucket hat with a white flower pattern, and a light brown backpack.

Investigators are seeking information, dashcam footage, or security video from the area of William Kitchen Road, Kennedy Road, and Antrim Crescent between 7:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on June 23.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is urged to contact police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
