Megan McKenna has made the decision to leave England behind and move to Germany full-time, a decision that was triggered by a horrifying robbery that left her terrified to be in her own home.
The 33-year-old reality star and singer was robbed at machete-wielding intruders who broke into her home while she was alone two years ago.
According to McKenna, the incident left her 'scared so much' to live in the UK on her own while her husband, Oliver Burke, was abroad playing football.
The break-in occurred the day after McKenna and her husband had returned from a holiday, and she was by herself in their home when the intruders struck.
McKenna recalled the terrifying experience, saying she fell asleep around 11pm and woke to find the house 'shaking'.
'I was such a disorientated mess. I was like, "What?" And then I just knew that it was happening to me, and I was like, "Oh my God",' she said.
The intruders, who were three masked men with machetes and baseball bats, managed to hack a hole in her wall and made off with her jewellery.
McKenna, who was terrified the intruders would kill her dog, quickly phoned the police, who were on their way to her home within seven minutes.
'They were in my house for seven minutes. It was the longest seven minutes I've ever experienced in my entire life,' she said.
McKenna, who was left with a cut foot and 'blood everywhere', believes the robbery was targeted and that the intruders only wanted her jewellery.
The incident has left McKenna 'changed forever', and she has decided to make Germany her permanent home to escape the fear and anxiety she felt in the UK.
McKenna, who rose to fame on MTV reality series Ex on the Beach, welcomed her son Landon with Oliver in October 2024.
The couple married in June 2025, and McKenna has since spoken about the challenges of being a new mother while also dealing with the aftermath of the robbery.
McKenna's decision to leave the UK behind is a testament to the lasting impact that traumatic events can have on a person's life, and her determination to create a safer and more secure future for herself and her family.
