The Southwest Companion Pass remains one of the most sought-after benefits in the airline rewards arena, enabling a frequent traveler to bring a companion on almost every flight for the cost of taxes and fees.
From now until Thursday, August 6, Southwest is offering a two‑month promotional Companion Pass that can be earned by booking a single round‑trip flight or two one‑way flights.
To qualify, travelers must first register for the promotion using their Southwest Rapid Rewards number. They must then complete the qualifying flight(s) by 11:59 p.m. Central Daylight Time on August 6, with the flights required to be flown by November 18.
The promotion accepts all fare classes, including the Basic option, and allows payment by cash, credit card, or Rapid Rewards points, as long as the booking is made through Southwest’s own website or mobile app.
Southwest’s flexible ticketing policy lets passengers rebook flights at no cancellation fee, even on Basic fares. Travelers who have pre‑booked flights before the November 18 deadline may cancel for a travel credit and then use that credit to rebook the same flight to meet the promotion’s requirements.
Once earned, the promotional Companion Pass is valid from January 5 to March 3, 2027, and allows the designated companion to fly for the cost of taxes and fees. The account holder can designate a companion and may change that designation up to three times per year.
In addition to the promotional pass, the standard Companion Pass requires either 135,000 qualifying points or 100 qualifying one‑way flights in a calendar year to earn a permanent pass that covers the remainder of the qualification year and the next.
The promotion ends on August 6, so travelers looking to secure a Companion Pass should book qualifying flights before the deadline to take advantage of this limited‑time offer.
