Renata Ford, the wife of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford, will be laid to rest next week at Riverside Cemetery, where her late husband was buried in 2016.
A 55-year-old, Renata died "suddenly" on July 5, according to her obituary, which describes her as a "beloved wife" and "cherished mother" of Stephanie and Douglas.
A visitation will be held at the Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel, on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with words of remembrance at 4 p.m.
Her funeral mass will be held on Monday at All Saint's Church, starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by interment at Riverside Cemetery.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed his condolences to Renata's children, saying "my heart breaks for Stephanie and Dougie" who have "been through so much at such young ages and losing their mom is incredibly painful".
A cause of death has not been released, but Renata married Rob in 2000 and was with him until his death from cancer in 2016 after more than a year of battling the disease.
The couple were in the public eye during Rob's tumultuous time as mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014, and Renata attempted to enter federal politics in 2019, running for the People's Party of Canada in Etobicoke North.
Daughter Stephanie Ford is an Ontario Progressive Conservative Party executive vice-president, while Renata's death is a reminder of the family's public profile and the challenges they have faced over the years.
