A bizarre theory spread rapidly across social media this week, with thousands of fans convinced that a Minion character mentioned the name of OnlyFans creator Bonnie Blue in a new trailer for Minions & Monsters.
The clip, a World Cup-themed promotional video for the upcoming film, appears to feature one of the gibberish-speaking Minion characters shouting what viewers believed was the name "Bonnie Blue". However, the film's director has now revealed that the mystery noise was not a reference to the adult content creator.
Pierre Coffin, the director of Minions & Monsters, explained that the noise was actually part of the surname of one of the film's animators, Omid Rajabalipour. Specifically, Coffin says people have mistaken the "balipour" part of the name for "Bonnie Blue".
The film's director has voiced the Minion characters himself since their debut in Despicable Me, inventing their bizarre language by mixing together fragments of different languages, nonsense syllables, and whatever sounds amusing. This makes it all the more impressive that the internet managed to pull Bonnie Blue out of the Minionese dialogue.
Minions & Monsters is set in 1920s Hollywood and follows the Minions as they attempt to make their own monster movie. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, and George Lucas, who makes a voice appearance in the film.
The latest instalment in the Minions franchise is set to hit theaters soon, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. However, it seems that Bonnie Blue will not be making an appearance in the film, despite the internet's best efforts to convince them otherwise.
