Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene accused Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of "bloodlust" following his remarks about fallen U.S. service members during the conflict with Iran.
Hegseth shared a U.S. Central Command post regarding American troops killed in Jordan, writing that their sacrifice "only stiffens our resolve."
Greene responded by arguing the soldiers were not willing sacrifices but victims of a war waged on behalf of a foreign country, claiming their deaths fueled a senseless conflict.
Central Command stated that on July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action during defense against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, with one additional member reported missing.
Greene initially offered condolences to the families and called for troops to be brought home, describing the engagement as a "senseless America LAST war."
An update confirmed unidentified remains were recovered at the site, with verification ongoing. A separate incident in northern Iraq on July 18 left one service member dead and another wounded during disposal of unexploded drone ordnance.
Greene resigned from Congress in early January after a public break with President Donald Trump last year, leaving midway through her two-year term.
