Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was pulled from the stage during a public event in Fairbanks, Alaska, this week due to a family emergency.
The interruption occurred at the Charles Davis Concert Hall at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where more than 900 people had gathered for a moderated question-and-answer session.
A staffer approached Jackson on stage and informed her of an urgent matter requiring her attention. She acknowledged the message, and the session was promptly concluded.
Event organizer Michelle Bartlett addressed the audience after Jackson’s departure, stating that the justice had to respond to an emergency and offering an apology to attendees.
It was later confirmed that Jackson’s father, Johnny Brown, a prominent Miami attorney, had died at the age of 80. An obituary was published following the incident.
