Toronto police launched an investigation after gunfire was reported outside the U.S. Consulate on University Avenue early Monday. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the consulate at 360 University Avenue.
Officers responded to reports of shots at approximately 4:46 a.m. and recovered a spent shell casing near the building. The evidence confirmed that a firearm was discharged in the area.
The discharge caused injuries to individuals present, though details of the injuries have not been released. Medical services attended to those affected at the scene.
Witnesses reported a white sedan fleeing the area shortly after the shots were fired. Police have not provided a suspect description or identified the vehicle’s occupants.
Southbound lanes of University Avenue have been closed to facilitate the investigation. Traffic diversions are in place while forensic teams examine the scene.
This event follows a previous shooting at the same consulate on March 10, marking the second incident within four months. Authorities have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing.
