The legislation would codify immigration policies enacted during the previous administration, including provisions related to border enforcement and refugee admissions.
During her testimony, Crockett criticized the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention practices, describing conditions in detention facilities as unacceptable.
She argued that the proposed bill reflects racial bias, referencing statements made by the former president regarding immigration and asserting that the legislation perpetuates systemic inequities.
Crockett also highlighted an administration proposal to increase refugee slots for white South African applicants, stating that the policy would allocate 17,500 places exclusively to that group.
She characterized ICE agents as incompetent and accused them of targeting individuals based on appearance, asserting that enforcement actions have disproportionately affected indigenous communities.
Crockett contended that the broader immigration agenda advances white supremacy, claiming that political motivations drive the push for increased immigration.
Addressing crime statistics, she emphasized that criminal behavior is not confined to any single demographic and urged a focus on factual data rather than propaganda.
The hearing concluded without a vote, and the committee will consider further testimony before deciding on the bill.
