The release of a 53-year-old American citizen from Iran has been attributed to the efforts of former President Donald Trump, according to reports.
The woman, who had been detained since December 2024, had been suffering from health issues, including a massive heart attack last week, which may have played a role in her release, officials note.
It is reported that the individual, who was wrongfully detained, has now safely left Iran and is in good condition, with the United States of America appreciating the gesture of goodwill by Iran.
A statement was made by Jared Genser, the woman's attorney, who credited Trump for her client's release.
Genser revealed that his client, U.S. citizen #DenaKarari, had been trapped in Iran since December 2024 on bogus charges and was not permitted to leave the country after visiting her family.
Karari was taken into custody and interrogated in what would become the first of multiple interrogations, and was not allowed to leave despite having her passports returned.
The Trump administration was contacted to raise the issue of her freedom with Iran when talks with Iran began, and Trump's efforts have led to her release.
Genser urged Iran to drop all remaining charges against those who worked locally in support of the Children of Mehr Foundation, who are innocent and committed no crimes.
Additionally, he called on Iran to release all wrongly imprisoned Americans and those subjected to coercive exit bans, as well as all Iranian political prisoners.
The individual is now safe and traveling back to the United States, where she will have more to say in the coming days, but for now, she needs to rest and recuperate.
