The latest beta version of iOS 27 is being actively tested by Apple, with developers and testers getting an early look at new features and improvements.
The beta has undergone significant changes since its initial release, with the third beta introducing a number of new features and updates for the operating system.
One of the notable new features in iOS 27 is the ability to customize Siri's voice, which was not available in the first two betas. This feature allows users to adjust both the assistant's pace and "expressivity" on supported devices.
The customization feature is currently only available on iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air, and is not compatible with older iPhone models.
Siri AI has also been added to watchOS 27, allowing users to pick up conversations from their other devices on their watch. However, this feature is only available on compatible Apple Watches, which include the Series 9 and later.
It's worth noting that watchOS betas cannot be uninstalled, so users should exercise caution before installing them.
Another new feature in iOS 27 is the ability for Siri AI to tap into third-party apps on your iPhone to return results. At the moment, testers have only found one function that works here: pulling battery information from electric car apps.
This is a significant development, as it demonstrates how Siri AI could be a capable assistant on iOS. It's hoped that the list of available functions and apps will continue to grow, making Siri AI even more useful.
The AirPods settings menu in iOS 27 has also been improved, with a new volume slider allowing users to control Adaptive mode more easily.
Adaptive mode blends Active Noise Cancellation with Transparency mode, adapting to changes in your environment. This feature was not easy to customize before, but the new volume slider makes it much more intuitive.
Finally, iOS 27 beta 3 includes a new Lock Screen animation, where the subject of your wallpaper will slowly appear before the full wallpaper pops into view.
This animation is a bold choice, but it adds a new visual element to the Lock Screen.
In addition to its new AI features, iOS 27 also includes a new warning system, which alerts users before their data is sent to Google's servers.
Users can choose to send the data one time, allow iOS to send their data whenever it needs to, or block access entirely. This feature is designed to maintain the same level of privacy as Apple's own servers.
