First Little Jamaica Food Festival Cancelled Due to Permit Delays

First Little Jamaica Food Festival Cancelled Due to Permit Delays

The inaugural Taste of Little Jamaica festival, scheduled for July 18 on Eglinton Avenue West between Oakwood and Glenhome, has been canceled.

Organizers stated that they were unable to secure all necessary approvals to proceed, despite working closely with city officials and community partners over several months.

They expressed disappointment but acknowledged the city’s permitting process and thanked vendors, performers, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners for their support.

The team indicated a commitment to bring the festival in 2027 and will coordinate directly with vendors and partners on next steps.

The event would have followed the February opening of the Eglinton LRT, which had a 14‑year construction period that impacted local businesses. A similar festival in 2025 was also canceled days before it was scheduled due to funding constraints and permit issues.

The city has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding this year's cancellation.
