Canada Invests P8 Billion in Philippine Digital Economy through Strategic Partnerships

The Philippines has tallied approximately P8 billion in investment pledges from Canadian information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) companies, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced.

The total investment includes new and expansion investments as well as financing commitments to the country's IT-BPM and digital-services industries. Companies that participated in the Philippine delegation's roundtable on July 3 in Canada include BlackBerry, CGI, Everise, IntouchCX, Manulife, NQX, OpenText, Sun Life, and TELUS.

The unveiled investment plans aim to create quality jobs, accelerate digital transformation, and strengthen the country's position as a trusted global technology hub, according to the DTI. By deepening engagement with Canadian companies, the Philippines is opening more doors for investments, technology partnerships, and quality jobs for Filipinos in the IT-BPM and digital services sectors.

The DTI noted that a stable and predictable business environment is maintained through various elements, including the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy Act, the Public-Private Partnership Code, and Executive Order No. 18 establishing Green Lanes for Strategic Investments.

The Philippine digital economy accounted for 9.8% of gross domestic product in 2025, with a forecast to generate between $70 billion and $140 billion in gross merchandise value by 2030, according to a report by Google, Temasek Holdings and Bain & Co.
