The popular procedural drama Bones has been unearthed for viewers to dig in and deconstruct, almost a decade after its final episode aired.
Starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz as the iconic duo Brennan and Booth, the show captivated audiences for 12 seasons with its passionate fanbase, contributing to an overall score of 84% from viewers.
The show's enduring appeal can be seen in the praise from fans on Rotten Tomatoes, where one user described it as 'the best show EVER,' and another praised its 'great chemistry and interesting storylines.' A professional critic described it as 'sexy, clever, meaty,' highlighting its great performances.
Boreanaz has expressed his surprise at the show finding a new, younger audience, recalling a recent encounter with two young girls who were excited to meet him because they loved Bones.
In an interview, he reflected on the show's 'character-driven' nature, which set it apart from other crime dramas. 'You have to have it be character-driven. You have to be talking over dead forensic bodies, cracking jokes. You have to be in tune with each other. And we created something special,' he said.
Deschanel, who hosts the podcast Boneheads with co-star Carla Gallo, shared her thoughts on the show's enduring popularity. 'There's a group of people who will watch it over and over again and then rewatch from the beginning. So it's exciting that it has longevity and is still relevant after almost 20 years,' she said.
Gallo joked about the possibility of a sequel or follow-up series, saying 'I'll do it today. I'm available!' The show is currently streaming on Netflix UK.
