At about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police and paramedics responded to an alleged rape in Parkland Walk, a north London park. The victim was reported attacked and the area was immediately cordoned off. Authorities confirmed the incident after a woman was found injured.
A 16‑year‑old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is currently held in custody. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are collecting evidence at the scene.
Forensic teams and search crews have been canvassing the park, while officers conducted door‑to‑door inquiries in surrounding homes. The park remains closed as investigators seek further clues.
Residents describe the event as a shock to what had been a safe, family‑friendly neighbourhood. The attack has left many feeling uneasy about using the park for walking or play.
"This is very worrying, a huge shock," said a local. "There have been forensics officers and loads of police here. This is a nice family area, but we need to know if it’s safe." It’s frightening to think what happened, and we are not sure if it’s safe to go out, especially as everyone uses it as a cut‑through, and we feel as if our safe bubble has been burst. Parkland Walk is a green oasis, and to think someone was attacked there is upsetting.
Police patrols have been increased in the area and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to officers. Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident are asked to come forward as soon as possible.
