Armed Citizen Fights Back

Police confirmed that a mass shooting occurred Saturday evening at an In‑N‑Out restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, leaving three people dead and at least five injured.

Authorities identified the gunman as 24‑year‑old Chad Williams, who died from a self‑inflicted gunshot wound after the attack.

During a press briefing, the Twin Falls Police Chief praised the rapid response of an off‑duty state trooper and a civilian who returned fire, helping to stop the shooter.

The civilian later identified himself as Jordan Salinas, a resident of Kimberly, Idaho, who intervened with his handgun while the gunman continued firing.

Video from the scene shows Salinas, wearing a cowboy hat, taking cover behind shrubs and discharging his FN Five‑Seven pistol toward the assailant.

In a social‑media post, Salinas expressed gratitude to family, friends, and community members for their support following the incident.

He described his reaction as “automatic” and “mechanical,” noting that he felt no fear when he heard gunfire and saw people fleeing.

Salinas explained that his preparation began after the 2021 Boise Towne Square mall shooting, prompting him to train regularly for personal protection.

His routine includes weekend shooting practice and desert training near Eden, where he follows a four‑step approach: observe, orient, decide, and act.

According to Salinas, he observed the shooter near the drive‑through, oriented himself to establish sight lines, decided the target, and then acted by firing his pistol.

Law enforcement officials credited both the off‑duty trooper and Salinas with preventing further casualties and ending the violent episode.
