The court ultimately ruled that the DC Police could not broadly blur and censor the footage, holding that any privacy interests were minimal and outweighed by the overwhelming public interest in disclosure.
The release of the footage comes nearly five years after January 6, a time when the American people are still fighting in court to uncover the truth about what the government's own cameras recorded that day. The DC Police had fought hard to keep the footage hidden from the public, and it remains to be seen what information will be uncovered in the 1,630 videos.
