The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has made a series of comments about potential security threats, claiming that Iran is plotting to assassinate him. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump said that he is on numerous lists and has been a target for years, describing the Iranians as "evil, sick people." He stated, "They want to take out the US leader, me, I'm on every list. I saw a thing this morning, I'm on every single one of their lists." Trump also claimed to have been number one on Iran's list for years, calling them a "bunch of scum."
In light of these comments, Trump announced that he would not be flying on Air Force One back to the United States, instead choosing to travel on a former Air Force One from Turkey to Mildenhall Air Force Base in the United Kingdom. This decision has sparked speculation about potential security concerns, although Trump has denied that the change was made due to these concerns.
During a press conference in Ankara, Trump addressed questions about his earlier comments and the security of his plane. He stated, "Well, I speak about it a lot because, you know, the life of a president is very dangerous. I'm number one, so I don't know. I can't tell you that, but I don't really care, because I'm doing my job, and I'm doing it, I hope, better than anybody's ever done it."
When asked further about why he wasn't flying home on the new Air Force One, Trump explained that the plane is currently on a tour of multiple bases in Europe, allowing soldiers to see it due to its "truly magnificent" design.
