26‑year‑old boxer Hannah Rapp was killed in an alleged road‑rage incident near Navasota, Texas, on Saturday morning.
She was cycling when deputies found her lying in the road; first responders provided emergency care before she was transported to a hospital where she later died.
Investigators determined that Rapp and another cyclist were on the road when a 31‑year‑old driver, Charles Medina, passed them, stopped, reversed, and struck Rapp. Medina was arrested, charged with manslaughter, and is being held at the Brazos County Detention Center.
The investigation continues as detectives gather evidence.
Rapp, originally from Indiana, had moved to the Bryan‑College Station area in 2024. She had been boxing for less than five years while working as a fire and life safety inspector at Texas A&M.
She had challenged for the women's featherweight championship the previous month.
Her professional record stood at 8‑0‑1 before she lost a unanimous decision to Tiara Brown for the women's featherweight title at MVPW‑04 on June 13.
Brown described Rapp as the best dance partner she had faced in the sport and praised her professionalism.
