Acting DNI Bill Pulte Announces Fifth Round of Staff Restructuring.

Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte announced a fifth round of personnel reductions at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence on Tuesday, completing a series of cuts that bring the agency’s workforce down by roughly 30% since his appointment.

The latest reductions follow earlier rounds announced in recent weeks, including a fourth round completed on Sunday and a previous month’s dismissal of more than 50 career officials.

In a statement, Pulte said the agency is refocusing on core national‑security missions and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

The Senate confirmed Jay Clayton as the next Director of National Intelligence on Monday, clearing a key step in the administration’s leadership transition.

Pulte, who also serves as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, indicated that the personnel actions are intended to streamline operations and improve efficiency within the intelligence community.

The restructuring has affected both career employees and political appointees, with several political staffers reassigned or terminated as part of the effort.

The changes occur amid broader administration initiatives aimed at increasing transparency and sharpening the focus of intelligence activities.
