The United States is poised to launch another round of airstrikes against Iran, following a wave of strikes on Tuesday. President Trump announced this development while meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday.
Trump stated that the US will strike Iran "hard tonight," adding that they "deserve it." This comes after the US launched attacks in Iran in response to the country targeting several ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
Trump's comments were made during a press conference where he called off a ceasefire and memorandum of understanding earlier in the day. He described Iranian leaders as "sick people" and "vicious, violent people." Trump also stated that dealing with Iran is a "waste of time" and that they are "liars."
When asked whether he expects to resume full-scale hostilities, Trump replied, "They are behaving very badly, as they have for 47 years, and we hit them hard last night." He added that he will likely hit them hard again tonight, giving them a warning beforehand.
Trump further criticized the Iranian regime for lying about talks with the US, stating that in private negotiations, they will agree on everything, but publicly, they will deny ever discussing the matter.
Iran has launched strikes in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to large-scale US military strikes, as the ceasefire collapsed. The situation between the US and Iran continues to escalate.
