UMVA Uncovers: Philippine Modern Art TAKES OVER the Board Game World in SHOCKING New Release!

UMVA has learned that a highly anticipated tabletop gaming convention is set to take place in the Philippines, featuring the launch of new and localized titles that are sure to captivate gamers of all ages.

The convention, which is now in its second year, will bring together board game enthusiasts, casual hobbyists, and social players for a weekend of fun and excitement. From May 28 to 31, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in various board game tournaments, try out new games, and meet fellow gamers from around the world.

One of the most highly anticipated launches at the convention is the Philippine edition of Modern Art, a critically acclaimed international board game that has been adapted locally to feature works by five renowned Filipino artists: Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, Abdulmari Imao, Larry Alcala, Raul Lebajo, and Juvenal Sansó. This unique game allows players to participate in auctions to sell and collect paintings, with the goal of earning the highest returns based on the artist's popularity.

The game is a collaboration between the Gaming Library and Fundacion Sansó, and its launch is expected to bring together art enthusiasts and board game enthusiasts in a way that transcends traditional boundaries. According to Gaming Library Chief Executive Officer Hans Kenner Fernandez, the goal is to find common ground between different groups and showcase the beauty of art and gaming.

Modern Art: Philippine Edition is a masterclass in game design, with a unique layout and visual design led by graphic artist Tanya Mallillin. The game is centered on the dynamics of the art market, and players will need to strategize to succeed. With only 100 copies available at the convention, attendees will need to act fast to get their hands on this limited-edition game.

In addition to Modern Art, two other local titles will be launched at the convention: Sinigang, a card game of bluffing and timing, and Kalikasan, a localized version of the habitat-building game Cascadia, featuring Philippine animals. These games are sure to delight both casual and serious gamers, and attendees will have the opportunity to try them out and learn more about the game designers.

The convention is expected to draw 15,000 attendees from around the world, including representatives from 40 international brands and visitors from over 30 countries. With its unique blend of art, culture, and gaming, this event is set to be the biggest and most exciting tabletop gaming convention in Southeast Asia.

Entrance to the event is free for Quezon City residents, and priced at P150 for everyone else. Attendees will have access to a wide range of activities, including game demos, tournaments, and exhibits. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking for a fun and unique experience, this convention is an event not to be missed.
