Durham Regional Police are searching for two male suspects involved in two break-and-enters at a hobby business in Oshawa. The first incident occurred on June 17 at approximately 4 a.m. when the suspects used a slingshot-style weapon to break the glass front door of Great Hobbies. They stole over $7,000 worth of remote-controlled vehicles before fleeing the area in a white Honda Odyssey van.
On June 26, around 4:40 a.m., the suspects returned to Great Hobbies and used the same method to break into the business. This time, they stole over $3,000 worth of remote-controlled vehicles before fleeing the area in a black Volkswagen Jetta. The first suspect is described as a Brown male, approximately 6 feet tall, 30-40 years-old, with a slim build. The second suspect is described as a Brown male, approximately 5-foot-10, 20-30 years-old, with a medium build.

Durham Regional Police are also investigating a series of commercial break-ins that occurred in Oshawa and Clarington between June 16 and June 24. A group of at least two to three suspects broke into eight businesses and restaurants, including the Waltzing Weasel, the Bulldog Pub, and the Toadstool Pub. The suspects gained entry by breaking glass doors and windows and stole cash, safes, tills, and other products. A red sedan was used to transport the suspects in several incidents.

Ontario Provincial Police have charged three GTA adults in an extortion, money laundering, and criminal interest rate operation. The investigation, known as Project STOP, was launched in September 2025. Vuong Quan Dinh, 44, of King City, was charged with multiple offenses, including criminal interest rate, laundering proceeds of crime, and extortion. Thi Diem Thuy Dinh and Thi Quy Nguyen, both of North York, were also charged with various offenses.
A Barrie woman has been charged with public mischief for allegedly repeatedly calling Barrie police despite being advised to stop unless she was experiencing an actual emergency or had a different matter to report. The woman made seven 911 calls and 24 non-emergency calls over a six-hour period, becoming verbally abusive with communications staff.
