Denise Nataly Migliore, a 51‑year‑old Australian permanent resident living in Franklinton, Louisiana, was taken into custody by Homeland Security Investigations on July 1, 2026, for allegedly casting illegal votes in two federal elections.
The arrest occurred at the federal courthouse in New Orleans, where HSI New Orleans agents apprehended Migliore on charges related to unauthorized voting.
On June 11, 2026, a four‑count indictment was filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana. The indictment alleges two counts of illegal voting and two counts of making false statements to register to vote.
According to the indictment, Migliore falsely claimed U.S. citizenship to register to vote on or about October 6, 2022, and October 22, 2024. She then allegedly cast ballots on or about November 8, 2022, and November 5, 2024, under that false registration.
If found guilty, Migliore faces up to five years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. She could also be fined up to $250,000 and required to pay a $100 special assessment fee.
Officials highlighted that the case demonstrates the enforcement of election integrity and that noncitizens who vote will face legal consequences.
Louisiana officials noted that the state’s use of a federal database and its Election Integrity Division helped identify the case, underscoring the state’s commitment to ensuring only eligible citizens participate in elections.
The case illustrates the collaboration between federal and state agencies to protect the integrity of elections and uphold the rule of law.
