The acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is receiving key support from several influential groups as he navigates his Senate confirmation to officially become the successor to Pam Bondi.
Support cited by Senator Chuck Grassley's office includes 670,000 sworn officers, 300 angel families, families who lost a loved one to crimes committed by undocumented immigrants, and 100 bipartisan U.S. attorneys and DOJ officials.
A statement from 23 attorneys general highlights Blanche's ability to deliver real results, particularly in areas of public safety, vigorous enforcement of federal law, and effective stewardship of the Department of Justice.
Blanche's work as acting attorney general has been marked by an aggressive stance towards enforcement, following his appointment after Pam Bondi left the role in April.
Since taking over, Blanche has steered the DOJ away from controversy and refocused messaging on domestic security, creating a National Fraud Enforcement Division and highlighting reductions in violent crime, drug seizures, immigration enforcement, and prosecution of gangs and cartels.
The American Border Story, which represents angel families, has praised Blanche's leadership, citing the need for clear leadership and sustained operational focus in the face of violent crime, illegal immigration, human trafficking, and other transnational threats.
The National Fraternal Order of Police has echoed this reasoning, commending President Trump on his nomination of Todd Blanche and urging the committee to favorably report his nomination.
A group of 78 former DOJ officials has also praised Blanche for steering the department back towards law enforcement and staying away from politically-charged controversy.
Blanche is expected to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning, with outside witnesses testifying on Thursday.
