Shelina Rahman, a mother in her 40s, and her teenage daughter have lost their lives after getting into difficulty in the water at a holiday park beach in Essex.
The family group, who were visiting the beach, were trying to help a seven-year-old boy who had gotten into difficulties in the water. Unfortunately, the woman and teenage girl, who were attempting to assist the boy, sadly died.
Dr. Rahman, the father of the deceased, expressed his gratitude to their community for their overwhelming support during this difficult time. He stated, "I would like to thank everyone in our community who has called, sent messages, and reached out to support us. I have not been able to answer many phone calls, but please know that I have not intentionally ignored anyone."
The community has come together to offer their condolences and support to the family, who are currently dealing with the unimaginable loss of their loved ones. The incident has left many in shock, and the beach has been closed as part of the investigation.
Essex Police are working to establish the circumstances that led up to the incident and are speaking to dozens of witnesses to piece together what happened. Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher has stated, "We are supporting the family in what is an unimaginable time. We need anyone who has any information to get in contact."
The seven-year-old boy, who was in distress in the water, was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition. The family's younger son and some other relatives have survived the incident and have returned home safely.
