Jamie Chappell, a 36‑year‑old, was stabbed at a construction site on the morning of July 23 and is currently in critical condition.
A family spokesperson said Mr. Chappell left for work as usual, unaware that he would soon need to fight for his life. The statement highlighted his role as the heart of his family, noting his humor, kindness, and willingness to help others.
The spokesperson thanked the site workers who acted swiftly before emergency services arrived, as well as police, paramedics, and the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance team for their professionalism and care. The gratitude extended to the trauma and neurosurgery teams at Southmead Hospital for their ongoing treatment.
Police are investigating the incident. A second individual, also 36, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but has since been released on bail.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities are urging the public not to speculate while the medical team continues to monitor Mr. Chappell’s recovery.
