Seattle Storm Co-Owner's Wife Confrontation Leaves Young Fans

Seattle Storm Co-Owner's Wife Confrontation Leaves Young Fans

During a Seattle Storm home game against the Chicago Fever, two teenage fans wearing XX‑XY Athletics shirts and holding a sign thanking player Sophie Cunningham were confronted by co‑owner Celeste Keaton and a male spectator in the arena.

Keaton allegedly made mocking gestures, used profanity and called the girls “insane,” which left one of them in tears. The man accompanying her reportedly shouted “take the trash out” to arena staff while pointing at the teenagers.

Video captured at the venue shows the exchange, including the verbal abuse directed at the girls and the surrounding crowd’s reaction.

Following the incident, the Seattle Storm organization issued an apology acknowledging the disturbance, though the owners have not provided personal statements.

The episode has intensified discussion about how supporters of women‑only sports policies are treated, with some attendees reportedly booing players linked to the debate.

As the league experiences increased popularity, it faces scrutiny over how to manage divergent viewpoints while maintaining a respectful environment for fans and athletes.
