Two people were hospitalized after a three‑vehicle crash involving an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Hamilton on Sunday. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. at the Centennial Parkway interchange. Multiple vehicles collided, with the cruiser sustaining heavy front‑end damage and another vehicle showing damage to its side and rear.
Police reported the injuries were precautionary and no serious harm was recorded. The two individuals were taken to hospital for evaluation. The crash prompted the closure of several Fort Erie‑bound lanes on the QEW near Centennial for most of the day.
Lanes were reopened shortly after 6 p.m., restoring traffic flow. The investigation has not yet determined the cause of the collision. Meanwhile, nearby bridge‑deck work and barrier relocations were underway in the area.
The crash happened while the Burlington Bay Skyway was partially closed for rehabilitation, with one middle lane closed overnight. Additional ramp closures on Eastport Drive and Northshore Boulevard were also in effect. Despite the ongoing construction, two through‑lanes on the QEW remained open throughout the incident.
