Officers responded to the Walmart at 50 McDade Blvd. in Darby Township, Delaware County, shortly after 7 p.m. to reports of gunfire inside the store.

According to investigators, two men got into a verbal altercation in the self-checkout area before one of them pulled out a handgun and fired.

One of the female Walmart employees was struck in the leg by the indiscriminate gunfire and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived and remains at large, with police reviewing surveillance video in an effort to identify the shooter.

There is no reported threat to the public, and nearby businesses have been cleared by police, who are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and to apprehend the suspect.
