The postponement followed demands from Senators Cornyn and Tillis regarding the language used by the DOJ to restrict an IRS agreement, a point that stalled the confirmation process.
Chairman Grassley delayed the markup vote in response to the senators' requests, which focused on limiting the scope of the IRS settlement.
The president expressed frustration, stating he might temporarily withdraw Blanche’s nomination until the two senators left office, and praised Blanche as a suitable candidate for the role.
By Monday, Cornyn and Tillis signaled their support to advance Blanche, indicating that the nomination may move forward within the committee.
