A chilling mystery has emerged in the investigation surrounding the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. Critical surveillance video documenting the surrender of Tyler Robinson, the accused gunman, has vanished without a trace, according to a local news investigation.
The footage, requested by a Salt Lake City news station just weeks after the September 10th shooting at Utah Valley University, would have shown Robinson’s arrival at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Kirk was fatally shot with a single round from a scoped Mauser Model 98 rifle while speaking at a Turning Point event.
Robinson’s parents and a friend brought him to authorities less than 48 hours after the shooting, reportedly recognizing the weapon used in the attack after it was publicized by police. Sheriff Nate Brooksby stated at the time their role was simply to facilitate Robinson’s arrival for questioning.
Initial responses to public records requests indicated no such footage existed, claiming Robinson never entered the jail area. However, when reporters broadened their request to include any video of Robinson entering the building, the story abruptly changed.
Officials now claim the video was automatically deleted after a standard 30-day retention period. This explanation raises serious concerns, as the footage was reportedly never shared with the primary investigating agency in Utah County, nor was it proactively preserved.
