Two 16-year-old boys have been charged in connection with a stabbing incident at a street festival in Scarborough on Saturday night. According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the Lawrence Ave.-Birchmount Rd. area, where a 17-year-old male youth was stabbed during a physical altercation with a group of suspects.
Police alleged that the suspects, who were known to the victim, brandished a knife and stabbed the victim, who was transported to a hospital along with one of the accused with non-life-threatening injuries. The two accused were each charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and disobeying a court order.
Separately, a dramatic marine rescue situation unfolded on Sunday morning at Humber Bay Park East, where two individuals were rescued after their boat crashed into rocks along the shoreline. A 30-year-old man and a woman were rescued by the police marine unit, with one patient taken to a trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries and the other to a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, and police are continuing to look into the incident.
A 29-year-old Toronto man is being sought for an alleged assault, which occurred on Friday night in the St. Clair Ave.-Dufferin St. area. A woman in her 30s has died following an early morning hit-and-run crash in Mississauga on Sunday. Peel Regional Police said they were called to a fatal collision at about 6:10 a.m. in the Eglinton Ave.-Erin Mills Pkwy. area, where the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police initially said they were looking for a suspect vehicle, but later withdrew that description, saying that the vehicle was actually driven by one of the people involved in the collision. Officials are examining vehicle debris recovered at the scene and believe it will help them identify the make and model of the suspect vehicle.
