Minnesota State Employee Charged Over Keying Six Teslas

Minnesota State Employee Charged Over Keying Six Teslas

The Minnesota state employee who was involved in a vandalism spree against six Teslas in 2025 has received a promotion and a pay raise, despite causing over $20,000 in damage.

The employee, identified as Dylan Bryan Adams, was working as a fiscal policy analyst with the Minnesota Department of Human Services at the time of the incident. He admitted to investigators that his actions were motivated by his hatred for Elon Musk. The damage totaled upwards of $21,000.

Despite the significant property damage, Adams was offered a diversion program instead of facing criminal charges. The Minneapolis Police Department publicly criticized the decision, stating that it impacted at least six different victims and totaled over $20,000 in damages.

The Hennepin County Attorney declined to file criminal charges, and Adams was instead given a one-day suspension without pay. However, he has since returned to work and received a promotion, as well as a salary increase.

According to state employment records, Adams is now working in a temporary assignment as the supervisor of the Disability Services Division's Fiscal Policy Team, earning $52.18 per hour. His previous salary was $48.60 per hour.

The incident has raised questions about the handling of the case and the consequences for Adams' actions. The state's decision to promote and raise the salary of an employee who engaged in vandalism has sparked controversy.

🚨

The incident highlights the disconnect between the state's response to property damage and the consequences for individuals who engage in such behavior. While Adams was reprimanded and offered a diversion program, the state ultimately decided to reward him with a promotion and a pay raise.
