Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s Big Dipper roller coaster halted abruptly on Thursday afternoon, prompting an immediate evacuation of riders.
The ride stopped at a low point around 2 p.m., causing the train to roll backward and tilt sharply to one side. Witnesses described a sudden jolt that sent the back carriage off‑track, leaving passengers suspended and frightened.
Two riders, a couple from Kendal, recounted the incident. The woman said the coaster surged upward before jerking and rolling back, leaving her terrified and unsure how to react.

Park staff initiated a manual deboarding, guiding guests safely to the ground. Trained operators and first‑aid personnel inspected all passengers, and no injuries were reported.
The resort confirmed that an internal investigation is underway to determine the cause of the malfunction.
