A father in Marion County, Florida, confronted a 25-year-old man after discovering Snapchat messages between the man and his underage daughter.
The father physically assaulted the man at his home on July 4, after confirming the messages also appeared on the man's phone.
Police investigators later interviewed the daughter, who disclosed that she had been sexually abused on multiple occasions by the man.
According to the victim, the abuse occurred five times over the past month, and the man sent two explicit videos and images of his genitalia.
When confronted with the evidence, the man initially claimed a friendship with the victim but subsequently admitted to the sexual battery.
Authorities arrested the man on Sunday, charging him with five counts of sexual battery of a victim aged 12 to 16, one count of transmitting harmful material to a minor, and one count of luring a child.
The suspect was booked into the county jail with a bond set at $100,000.
No charges have been filed against the father, and investigators have indicated that the case is unlikely to change that status.
Police are also exploring the possibility of additional victims and have asked anyone with relevant information to contact the investigating detective.
