For many Apple Watch users, cooking can be a convenient and enjoyable experience thanks to the device's ability to function as a timer. With the Apple Watch strapped to their wrist, users can easily keep track of time without having to shout out across the room to stop a timer.
However, for some users, a simple task like adding time to a running timer proved to be a frustrating challenge. Despite numerous attempts, Siri would fail to understand the command, leaving users to manually calculate the remaining time. This issue persisted across various platforms, including iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, and HomePod, with no clear resolution in sight.
The latest iOS 27 beta has finally addressed this issue, allowing users to seamlessly add time to a running timer using Siri. If there are 4 minutes and 42 seconds left, and a user says "Add two minutes to the timer," Siri will simply update the time to 6 minutes and 42 seconds, and the timer will continue running.
However, it appears that this improvement is not limited to iPhone alone. With the watchOS 27 beta 3 release, the new Siri and Siri app have also been implemented on the Apple Watch, finally resolving the long-standing timer issue for users.
While the timer screen still has a formatting problem, and Siri's performance on the watch is slower than expected, the developers have acknowledged that this is a beta release and that there is still time to improve.
For users who have struggled with this issue for years, the ability to easily add time to a timer on their wrist is a welcome relief, allowing them to bake in peace without frustration.
