Micheal Ward, a 28-year-old actor, is on trial for multiple charges of rape and sexual assault at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London. The actor, known for his breakout role in the drama series Top Boy, has denied the allegations.
Under cross-examination, Ward claimed that everything that happened between him and the alleged victim was consensual. He described the woman as an 'active participant' in the encounter, which took place after they met at a nightclub in east London.
The alleged assault is said to have occurred on January 2, 2023. Ward has been charged with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault against the woman. He has denied all of the charges.
Prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC questioned Ward about his intentions, saying, "You were bent on getting what you wanted." Ward responded, "That definitely was not the case. I have no interest in being with someone who does not want to be with me."
