A 39-year-old woman has been named the suspect in a bombing in Monaco that reportedly targeted a Ukrainian tycoon with ties to Russia.
Interpol identified the bombing suspect as Anastasiia Berezovska of Ukraine, who was named the prime suspect in a red notice seeking her arrest.
Berezovska was seen in Germany, and a Monaco prosecutor said the suspect was disguised as a man.
On Monday, authorities said a parcel bomb exploded in the lobby of one of Monaco’s fanciest apartment buildings, seriously wounding a man and woman, and injuring a teenager.
Monaco public prosecutor Stephane Thibault said the man had been stabilized, but the woman’s condition remained “life-threatening.”
Authorities are treating the incident as an attempted murder case, with the explosive device reportedly containing bolts and buckshot.
Anastasiia Berezovska was born on June 26, 1987, and last resided in Germany, according to Interpol.
The suspect has a tattoo, possibly of a snake, running down her right arm from her shoulder to elbow.
Following the bombing, prosecutors said Berezovska fled to France, then drove to Italy in a rented German-registered car.
Due to the sophistication of the bomb, prosecutors believed that more than one perpetrator was involved.
Two men were arrested in Monaco before being released due to a lack of evidence.
The intended target of the bombing was Ukrainian-born businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, who had previously been targeted with sanctions due to his ties to Russia.
Yermolaiev is a sanctioned multimillionaire with a reportedly long list of enemies in Ukraine.
He operated an alcohol business in Crimea, paying taxes to Russia even after it invaded Ukraine.
Yermolaiev built his fortune in the construction business in Dnipro, becoming one of the city’s largest property developers.
He obtained Cypriot citizenship in the 2010s and has lived in Monaco since at least 2021, denying charges of operating in Crimea.
