Manchester United have agreed to acquire Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea for a reported fee of £50 million.
The deal consists of an initial £48 million payment with an additional £2 million in performance bonuses, while Chelsea will retain a 10 percent sell‑on clause.
Santos has already signed personal terms with United and is scheduled to travel to Old Trafford for a medical assessment.
He joined Chelsea in 2023 from Vasco da Gama and made 43 appearances across all competitions in his first season, yet has struggled for regular playing time.
At Stamford Bridge, Santos sits behind Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in the midfield hierarchy, limiting his opportunities.
Chelsea’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, has introduced a different squad strategy that has not prioritized Santos’ inclusion.
Seeking more game time, Santos opted for a move to United where he is expected to contribute immediately.
Earlier this year, United pursued other midfield targets, but those negotiations did not materialise.
The transfer aligns with United’s broader objective of strengthening the midfield for the upcoming campaign.
Santos will join United ahead of the start of the new season, adding depth and versatility to the squad.
The acquisition may leave Chelsea with a reduced midfield option, prompting a reassessment of their roster plans.
