The Philippines is set to host the WR Bughouse Open for a second time, with the event scheduled to take place on August 29 at the Quezon City MICE Center.
The one-day tournament promises to be a thrilling competition, with around 100 to 200 participants expected to take part, including top masters from the country and Asia.
The event is being organized by WR founder and organizer Wadim Rosenstein, who is also running for president of FIDE, the sport's world governing body, in upcoming elections.
The competition will feature a qualifying phase, with the top 16 teams advancing to the knockout rounds.
A total cash pot of P620,000 is up for grabs, including P100,000 for the eventual titlist and cash prizes for top 20 finishers and category winners.
The event is supported by the Quezon City government, with Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice-Mayor Gian Carlo Sotto lending their backing to the tournament.
The WR Bughouse Open is set to be a popular event, with the inaugural staging early last month attracting top players from around the world, including World No. 2 Hikaru Nakamura.
The competition promises to be an exciting opportunity for local players to compete against the best in Asia, with a number of cash prizes on offer for top finishers.
