Harvard Appoints Mayorkas, Former Open Border Chief, to Key Position

Harvard University’s Institute of Politics announced that former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will join the institute as a resident fellow this fall.

Resident fellows at the Institute of Politics are tasked with leading student study groups, holding regular office hours, and providing mentorship to undergraduate participants.

The institute plans to release a bipartisan slate of fellows later this summer, expanding the program’s diversity of perspectives.

Mayorkas joins a growing roster of former administration officials who have taken positions at the institute, including former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg and consumer protection chief Rohit Chopra.

In addition, former executive producer of “Meet the Press” Betsy Fischer Martin is set to assume the role of director of the Institute of Politics, overseeing its academic and outreach initiatives.
