Toronto Duo Charged with Human Trafficking, Including Registered

A man and a woman from Toronto have been charged with multiple offences in a human‑trafficking investigation that began in April.

Police allege that a 23‑year‑old victim was recruited through deception, coercion and control, forced to provide sexual services, and that the proceeds were taken by the accused.

Investigators executed a search warrant at a Toronto address and charged Kailen Richard Wareham, 35, and Ava Ashouri, 27, with procuring, trafficking persons over 18, financial benefit from trafficking, possession of false travel documents, material benefit from sexual services, advertising sexual services, and uttering threats.

Kailen Richard Wareham, 35, of Toronto, faces seven charges in connection with a human-trafficking probe.

Authorities believe additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

In a separate case, a 55‑year‑old massage therapist in Vaughan has been arrested and charged with sexual assault following an alleged incident at a wellness clinic.

The alleged assault occurred on May 9, and investigators say there may be further victims; tips are being solicited through police and Crime Stoppers channels.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Omar Attia, who is also wanted for robbery and a probation violation, and are requesting public assistance.
