Motorists traveling to London Gatwick Airport this morning are facing delays due to a serious road traffic collision on the M23 in Surrey.
The southbound carriageway between junctions 8 and 10 is closed, with diversions in place and motorists encouraged to plan alternative routes.
The collision occurred just before 1am, and Sussex Police have asked anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
A stretch of the M23 is also closed at junction 8 for the M25, but it is unclear at this time if this is related to the same incident.
Rush hour traffic is building up in the area, with delays snarling back to junction 10.
National Highways has shared an alternative route for motorists:
Follow the hollow diamond symbol on road signs, exit the M25 at junction 6 and take the A22 southbound towards Eastbourne.
Remain on the A22 for approximately nine miles, passing through South Godstone and Blindley Heath, to reach the junction with the A264 at Felbridge.
At the traffic lights with the A264, turn right towards Crawley/Gatwick Airport, and remain on the A264 for approximately five miles, passing Copthorne, to reach junction 10 of the M23.
Road users are advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and to consider alternative routes.
