A proposal on X, made by user John Carter, suggested that Musk provide Gibson with a $100 million budget to produce a historically accurate adaptation of The Odyssey. The proposal called for Gibson to film the epic with meticulous attention to detail, using ships, armor, and weapons that are accurate to the time period, as well as casting actors to play the roles with their dialogue delivered in Homeric Greek.
Musk responded to the proposal with a simple, yet intriguing, message: "I'm down." The exchange quickly gained traction on the platform, with Musk's response receiving over 80,000 likes and millions of views.
The discussion comes as interest in Homer's epic has grown following the release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which has renewed public attention on the ancient Greek poem. While the film has been positively reviewed, it has sparked controversy with many of its casting decisions, including the decision to cast a traditionally white character as Helen of Troy.
