Arsenal Approaches Sale of Ethan Nwaneri, Sets Price Target

Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks to sell 19‑year‑old Ethan Nwaneri, with a buy‑back option included in any potential deal.

The midfielder, who became the youngest Premier League debutant in 2022, secured a regular place in the first team during the 2024‑25 season, making 37 appearances and earning a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year.

In the following season, Nwaneri played only six league matches before being loaned to Marseille in January, where he made nine appearances before returning to North London.

Manager Mikel Arteta said the experience, though limited, helped the player mature, noting that he now looks like a different man on the pitch.

Clubs such as RB Leipzig and AC Milan are reportedly interested, with Arsenal seeking a fee of £30‑35 million and a buy‑back clause around £50 million.

A transfer would provide a significant cash injection for Arsenal, give Nwaneri more regular game time next season, and leave the door open for a future return.

The move would add depth to a midfield already populated by Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Eberechi Eze, and Myles Lewis‑Skelly.

Arsenal is also pursuing a deal for Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes to further strengthen the squad.

Former Arsenal player Alan Smith suggested the club might be willing to sell the academy product due to limited opportunities, while recognizing the potential financial benefit of a sale.
