President Trump Opens Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota

Former President Donald Trump visited Medora, North Dakota, to open the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, a ceremony that drew a large crowd of supporters and history enthusiasts.

The event took place on the steps of the Burning Hills, beneath the expansive Badlands sky, where attendees gathered to witness the dedication of the new national monument honoring Roosevelt’s legacy.

During the opening, Trump delivered a speech that emphasized Roosevelt’s role as a statesman, soldier, frontiersman, and American hero, noting that the location was a fitting tribute to the former president’s impact on the nation.

He also presented Roosevelt’s Medal of Honor, a symbol previously housed in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, to the library, stating that it was an appropriate place for the award.

Trump highlighted Roosevelt’s commitment to a vigorous American economy, his refusal to accept failure or corruption, and his vision for a strong, respected nation.

The former president referenced Abraham Lincoln, describing the Civil War era and the transformation of the country into a powerful empire under Roosevelt’s leadership, and praised the nation’s current strength and respect.

He also remarked on Roosevelt’s opposition to communism, describing the ideology as a threat to civilization and aligning it with contemporary concerns about global security.

Following the ceremony, Trump greeted members of the Rough Riders, a group that honors the legacy of Roosevelt’s volunteer cavalry.

After the North Dakota visit, he returned to Washington, arriving at Joint Base Andrews in the late evening to resume duties in the capital.
