Rebel Forces Return Military Equipment to Authorities

Six former members of the Dawlah Islamiya and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendered to government forces in Maguindanao del Sur on Wednesday.

The surrendered militants, known for their skills in constructing improvised explosive devices, handed over a cache of firearms and explosives to the Army’s 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion.

The handover took place at Barangay Midtimbang in Datu Anggal Midtimbang, with Brigadier General Edgar L. Catu, commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade, presiding over the ceremony alongside local officials.

The event signals continued progress in the government’s campaign to integrate former combatants into civilian life within the Bangsamoro region.

Such surrenders are viewed as key steps toward enhancing stability and security in the area.
